Resources regarding PACER Multi-Factor Authentication
PACER has implemented Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for users who have CM docketing privileges. Though MFA is not required now, PACER will begin randomly requiring users who have not already enrolled to do so beginning in August. By the end of the year, everyone who has CM docketing privileges will be required to use MFA when logging in. Please note that MFA will not be required for CAEB e-Filing – it will only be required for accessing PACER and CM/ECF directly.
PACER has also indicated that users who use third-party software for filing should verify that MFA is supported by their software before enrolling. We encourage our users to begin this process early to avoid possible disruptions to their business processes.
Users may select one of the following authentication apps for PACER MFA:
- Authy
- Duo Mobile
- Free OTP
- Google Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
More information and instructions for downloading the authentication apps, using backup codes for logging in, and logging in with MFA are available in the links below.
Questions regarding compatibility when using third party software to log in to PACER should be directed to your software provider. Questions regarding using MFA with your PACER account should be directed to the PACER Service Center at 800-676-6856 or pacer@psc.uscourts.gov .
