Court Appearances

You can appear in court in person, by phone, or by video. Here are the options and how to schedule them:

In-Person Appearances: I You can appear in person without scheduling in advance. Just show up at the court on the date and time of your hearing.

Phone Appearances: You can appear by phone through CourtCall, a service that charges a fee. To schedule a phone appearance, you can either: ZoomGov Appearances: You can appear by video or audio through ZoomGov, a service that is free. Note that neither Judges Jaime nor Sargis have ZoomGov capabilities at this time. To schedule a video or audio appearance, you need to:
  • Visit the Court Calendar page and find your hearing. You can search by date, judge, case number, or debtor name.
  • Click the ZoomGov Sign Up link next to your hearing. Fill out the form and click the Sign up button. You will receive an email confirmation. To join the video call you will need to check the pre hearing dispositions page for that matter.
  • If you want to cancel your video appearance, you can use the link in the email confirmation.

Important Notes:
  • You must schedule your video or phone appearance at least 24 hours before the hearing.
  • Some judges do not allow any video appearances, and some judges limit remote appearances for certain types of hearings. Click to see which types of remote appearances are allowed.
  • You must dress properly and behave respectfully during the hearing. If you appear by video, use a virtual background that is not offensive or distracting.
  • You must have a stable and clear phone or video connection and avoid background noise.

Members of the Public:
  • Members of the public who are not parties to the case may sign up to listen to the live audio of non-trial proceedings via Zoom, but may not watch the proceedings via video. They must include the telephone number that they intend to use, select “Listen Only” as the call type and select “Other” as their role. Failure to follow these instructions may result in your removal from the hearing without warning.
  • Members of the public may not sign up to attend trials held in the Bankruptcy Court via Zoom.
Meeting of Creditors
  • Also known as 341(a) meetings, are not court hearings; however, they are required meetings for debtors. These meetings are held by the trustee in your case. See meeting of creditors information.
